Shayna Baszler, released from WWE earlier this year, made an unexpected return during tonight’s NXT Homecoming special. The former NXT Women’s Champion appeared in a backstage segment with Sol Ruca and Zaria.
Baszler stepped into the ongoing storyline between the quarreling partners, urging them to put aside their differences. Drawing on her own history with alliances, she encouraged the team to get back on track—a message that, at least for the moment, seemed to calm tensions.
Her presence stands out given she was among the talent cuts this past spring. Though still a free agent, Baszler has maintained ties to the brand, previously being credited as a producer for an NXT episode in July.
The return unfolded on a landmark night for NXT, as Homecoming marked the brand’s first event at Full Sail Arena in over five years, adding yet another layer of significance to the show.
