Former WWE writer Vince Russo claims the company is building current US Champion Sami Zayn for a Royal Rumble win and a World Championship victory at WrestleMania 42.

Former WWE Writer Says Sami Zayn Will Be World Champion At WrestleMania 42

Former WWE writer Vince Russo has laid out what he believes is a definitive main event roadmap for Sami Zayn, predicting a World Championship coronation for the current United States Champion at WrestleMania 42.

Speaking on The Coach & Bro Show, Russo stated that Zayn’s current push is the foundation for a much larger ascent. He forecast that Zayn will win the Men’s Royal Rumble match in early 2026, which is scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia, before going on to capture the top prize on WWE’s grandest stage.

“Clearly and obviously, they’re 100% behind Sami Zayn. Clearly and obviously. No questions about it,” Russo declared. “He’s the United States Champion. He’s going to win the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia. And I promise you, at WrestleMania [42], he’s going to become the [world] champion. That’s where they’re going with Sami Zayn. Push, push, push, push, push, Sami.”

Russo’s prediction is fueled by Zayn’s recent career momentum. Just a few weeks ago, on the August 29 edition of SmackDown, Zayn defeated Solo Sikoa to capture the United States Championship for the first time.

The company has continued to feature him prominently since that victory. On last week’s episode of SmackDown, Zayn successfully defended his title against Rey Fenix in a hard-fought contest.
