Former NXT Star Says AAA Must Keep Tradition After WWE Acquisition (Exclusive)

The wrestling world continues to react to WWE’s landmark acquisition of Lucha Libre AAA, and former NXT talent Valentynna Reis has voiced both optimism and unease about the deal. Reis, who wrestled under the name Valentina Feroz during her WWE tenure, spoke exclusively to Wrestling Noticias, reflecting the broader tension many feel about the industry-shaping move.

Reis pointed to the possibilities for greater international visibility for Latin talent, while stressing the importance of safeguarding lucha libre’s cultural roots.

“I see both sides. On one hand, it can open many doors for Latin talents who have always sought more international space. On the other, it’s important that the essence of AAA is not lost, because it is a company with a lot of history and tradition. I hope this merger brings positive things for all of us wrestlers.”

The acquisition was first unveiled by Triple H during WrestleMania 41 weekend earlier this year. WWE’s parent company, TKO Group, finalized the deal on August 1, securing a majority controlling stake in the legendary Mexican promotion.

According to WWE, the plan is to preserve the AAA brand within Mexico while using it as a developmental system to showcase lucha libre talent to global audiences, mirroring the NXT model. A joint Worlds Collide event in Los Angeles this past June marked the first step in that direction. Still, with WWE now controlling all AAA contracts, concerns remain about consolidation of power—concerns that echo Reis’s warning about protecting the legacy of one of wrestling’s most storied institutions.
