Kyle Fletcher Cites WWE Stars As Inspiration Ahead Of AEW All Out

Kyle Fletcher, one of AEW’s fastest-rising names, is looking outside the company for inspiration on the microphone. The current TNT Champion points to WWE mainstays John Cena and The Miz as the standard he aims to reach in his promo work.

Fletcher’s development as a talker has become central to his presentation since joining the Don Callis Family, a shift that played a key role in his recent program with AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Fletcher detailed his approach to improving on the mic.

“I’ve really been trying to, not so much lean on inspiration from other people. Since I shaved my head, I’ve gotten so many comparisons to other people, I’m really trying to hammer home my own path and carve out my own path,” Fletcher said. “Guys I look at, even still, when it comes to promos, every time I watch (John) Cena and one of his promos, I’m left with the feeling of, ‘This dude is the greatest on the microphone that I’ve ever witnessed.’ I have that feeling, and that’s something that I strive to achieve, that level on the mic.”

He also credited another longtime WWE figure. “The Miz was one of my guys growing up. That’s another one that I still listen to and watch and go, ‘He’s so good on the mic.’”

Fletcher emphasized that his aim is not to imitate but to learn, breaking down what makes top-tier talkers effective. His mindset, framed by the question “How do I get to that level?”, was evident throughout his feud with Page, where his promos were designed to position himself as the future of the business heading into their clash at All Out.
