The WrestlePalooza card has shifted at the last moment, as the WWE Women’s Championship Triple Threat will no longer take place at the premium live event. Instead, the match is now set for next week’s episode of SmackDown.
General Manager Nick Aldis made the announcement on tonight’s broadcast, confirming that Tiffany Stratton will defend her title against Jade Cargill and Nia Jax on Friday, September 26.
The match had been widely expected for WrestlePalooza after it appeared on official event merchandise in Indianapolis. However, the delay appears connected to a legitimate injury Stratton suffered during her defense against Cargill on last week’s SmackDown.
That contest ended in a double count-out after Stratton landed awkwardly on a moonsault. The injury was significant enough to remove her from Tuesday’s NXT Homecoming main event, where Lyra Valkyria stepped in as her replacement. A report from WrestleVotes also noted that the match announcement was uncertain due to Stratton’s medical status, which now aligns with the one-week postponement.
WWE addressed the situation during tonight’s show. Jax delivered a promo before being interrupted by Cargill, who stormed the ring and nearly sparked a fight. Aldis quickly intervened, announcing the championship bout for next week in Orlando.
The Triple Threat brings together months of ongoing tension. Jax reignited the feud last week by attacking both Stratton and Cargill after their title match. Cargill, the Queen of the Ring winner, has pursued the championship since SummerSlam, while Jax has remained a fixture in the title picture throughout the year. Stratton first won the belt in January by cashing in her Money in the Bank contract on Jax, and now all three competitors are set to collide.
