Less than a week after his controversial WWE exit, Andrade’s first post-company appearance has been confirmed. The former superstar is scheduled for The Crash Lucha Libre on October 3 at the Fausto Gutiérrez Moreno Municipal Auditorium in Tijuana.
The promotion announced Andrade for the show, suggesting he will compete, though no opponent has been named. The card is also set to feature Rey Horus and Hijo de Rey Misterio. The booking comes days after WWE released Andrade for disciplinary reasons and moved his profile to the alumni section of its website.
Reports indicate the decision stemmed from mounting frustration within the company. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, management felt Andrade’s return at the Royal Rumble failed to generate lasting momentum, especially when compared with CM Punk and Cody Rhodes. Concerns over his English proficiency were also cited, alongside the perception that other Mexican stars such as Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix had surpassed him in connecting with fans. His eventual pairing with Fenix on SmackDown was reportedly seen as a role with limited upside.
Issues also extended outside of creative. Sports Illustrated previously reported that Andrade incurred at least one WWE Wellness Policy violation during his latest run, his second after a 30-day suspension in early 2020. Weeks before his release, he was sent home from a television taping, leading to canceled creative plans.
The Wrestling Observer further clarified that Andrade did not request his release. The move was made solely by WWE, bringing an end to his second stint with the company following more than two years in AEW, where he led the Andrade Family Office faction.
