The WWE Women’s Championship Triple Threat will no longer take place at WrestlePalooza. Instead, Tiffany Stratton will defend her title against Nia Jax and Jade Cargill on next week’s episode of SmackDown.
The announcement came during yesterday’s broadcast after a confrontation spiraled out of control. Jax was delivering a promo when Stratton attacked, quickly joined by Cargill. Security intervened to break up the fight, prompting SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis to officially reschedule the match.
The delay stems from a legitimate injury Stratton sustained during her title defense against Cargill last week. That contest ended in a double count-out after Stratton landed awkwardly on a moonsault, an injury severe enough to pull her from a planned NXT appearance earlier this week.
The move ends speculation that began when the match appeared on official WrestlePalooza merchandise, leading many to assume it would be added to the card. The Triple Threat represents the culmination of months of tension. Cargill, the Queen of the Ring, has pursued the title since SummerSlam, while Jax has remained a fixture in the championship picture throughout the year.
Stratton’s reign began in January when she cashed in her Money in the Bank contract on Jax, and now all three are set to collide next Friday in Orlando.
