MJF is set for another hiatus from AEW television to resume filming for the upcoming Universal Pictures movie Violent Night 2. The confirmation came from his wife, Alicia Atout, following his grueling loss to Mark Briscoe at All Out.

The defeat capped off a punishing night for the “Salt of the Earth,” who battled Briscoe in a violent Thumbtacks N’ Tables match. After nearly 20 minutes of brutal action, Briscoe secured the victory by hitting his finisher, the Jay Driller, directly onto a pile of tacks for the pin.

The loss at the pay-per-view concluded a difficult week for MJF. Just prior to All Out, he traveled to Mexico for a high-profile bout against Mistico, where he was defeated for the CMLL World Heavyweight Title.

On Twitter, Atout explained the situation and why the couple’s honeymoon is once again on hold, referencing both the brutality of the match and her husband’s Hollywood obligations.

“Guys. I was really hoping we’d go on the honeymoon after ALL OUT. But a) he might be d—d, And b) if he’s alive, he’s gotta go shoot the movie…”

With filming for Violent Night 2 now his priority, MJF will be absent from AEW programming for the foreseeable future as he continues to balance his burgeoning movie career with his status as a main event wrestler.
