Did John Cena Retire at WWE Wrestlepalooza?

Brock Lesnar made a devastating return to the squared circle at the inaugural Wrestlepalooza, completely decimating John Cena to win their marquee matchup. The bout was Lesnar’s first in over two years, and he made a definitive statement by dominating the 17-time World Champion.

Despite the brutal loss, this was not the final chapter of Cena’s ongoing retirement tour. The Franchise Player still has five advertised appearances left before he hangs up his boots for good.

While his tour is set to continue with a stop at Crown Jewel in Perth, Australia, a new report from WrestleVotes has pinpointed the exact date for his career’s conclusion. According to the report, John Cena’s final match is scheduled for December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, DC.

The high-stakes clash at Wrestlepalooza opened the premium live event, a placement that may not have been the original intention. A report from Fightful Select revealed the bout was initially slated to main event before a late creative decision altered the running order.

Lesnar had promised such a destructive outcome in the lead-up to the event, verbally tearing down Cena’s legacy.

“You want me to sit here and f—king put John Cena over for 25 years and talk about how great he is? I’m not your guy,” Lesnar said. “If Brock Lesnar would have stayed in WWE, you would not know the name John Cena today… In your yellow f—king calf s—t stained f—king t-shirts and whatever you wanna wear out there – I ain’t buying it.”

“If John Cena wants his retirement with an exclamation point on it, I’m gonna retire John Cena,” he concluded.

While Lesnar fulfilled his promise to defeat Cena, the legend’s career continues for a few more months. With the final date seemingly set, the question now turns to who WWE will choose as the last opponent for one of its greatest superstars.
