Seth Rollins broke character at Wrestlepalooza during a heated mixed tag match alongside his wife, Becky Lynch, against CM Punk and AJ Lee. The unscripted moment unfolded live before the crowd.
The incident came after CM Punk landed a GTS, leaving Rollins slumped and seemingly unconscious on the ropes. With her partner down, Lynch was forced to face both opponents alone.
As she tried to revive him, Lynch slapped Rollins repeatedly. Supposed to be selling the finisher, Rollins was caught on camera fighting back laughter. The more the slaps continued, the harder it became for him to stay in character until he finally broke.
The match capped a rivalry fueled by Rollins costing Punk multiple title shots at Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania. Tensions escalated at SummerSlam when Lynch delivered a low blow to save Rollins from a clean loss to Punk, after Rollins’ shocking MITB cash-in on Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship.
AJ Lee’s return to the ring after 13 years came in direct response to Lynch’s repeated attacks on Punk, setting up the couple vs. couple clash at Wrestlepalooza.
In the buildup, Lynch hit AJ with a Man Handle Slam and slapped both Punk and Lee in separate confrontations.
