Original Plans For John Cena vs Brock Lesnar At WWE Wrestlepalooza Revealed

The finish to Brock Lesnar’s brutal victory over John Cena at WrestlePalooza was reportedly not the original plan. According to BodySlam, Cena was expected to defeat Lesnar as of Saturday morning before a last-minute change was made.

That night, Lesnar demolished the 17-time champion in his first match in two years. Inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, the contest ended after Lesnar delivered six F5s for the pinfall, then added a seventh after the bell. The decisive assault began when Lesnar countered a Five Knuckle Shuffle attempt.

Earlier, Cena’s comeback flurry—three consecutive Attitude Adjustments—only secured a dramatic two-count. During the match, Michael Cole reminded viewers that Cena’s finisher was originally called the F-U as a direct shot at Lesnar.

Lesnar’s reunion with Paul Heyman, who cut one of his signature promos for The Beast Incarnate before the match, now appears to be laying the groundwork for a potential WarGames match in November.

This shocking loss adds a new chapter to Cena’s ongoing Farewell Tour, which saw him briefly turn heel in March before reverting to his classic babyface persona ahead of SummerSlam. The tour is scheduled to conclude with his final match on December 13.
