The Miz Shows Legit Frustration Over WWE Decision

The Miz has voiced his anger over being left out of John Cena’s farewell tour. Speaking on a recent podcast, the former WWE Champion expressed frustration that AJ Styles, not him, was chosen for a high-profile match against the 17-time world champion.

He anchored his argument in his victory over Cena at WrestleMania 27, where he retained the WWE Championship in the main event. The Miz argued that moment alone should have guaranteed him a final match. “I beat the guy at WrestleMania in the main event for the WWE Championship, one of the only people ever to do something like that, and I can’t get a match with John Cena. He’s got five dates left,” he said.

According to The Miz, he began lobbying for the match as soon as the tour was announced but has yet to be booked. He admitted uncertainty about whether the opportunity will ever come.

While voicing his frustration, The Miz also addressed Styles’ involvement. “I’ll tell you what. I’ll tell you backstage, I was happy for AJ Styles, but very angry that it’s AJ Styles versus John Cena and not John Cena versus The Miz,” he stated.

The match that drew his reaction is Cena vs. Styles, scheduled for Crown Jewel in Perth, Australia, on October 11. Marketed as a tiebreaker in their singles series, it was officially announced by Chief Content Officer Triple H on September 23.

The Miz acknowledged the competitive edge behind his words. “I was, I’m pretty upset. Like, that’s my heart talking. Selfishly, I want that match,” he admitted. (h/t Wrestling News)

Cena’s farewell tour is set to end in December 2025. WrestleVotes Radio recently reported that his final career match will take place in Washington, D.C., a shift from the long-expected choice of his hometown, Boston. An official WWE announcement is expected soon.
