A legitimate injury to Jade Cargill during the WWE Women’s Championship main event on SmackDown has raised concerns. The incident, which left her visibly cut, marked the second case in recent days of a top performer being busted open during competition.
The injury occurred on the September 26 broadcast from Orlando’s Kia Center. Nia Jax executed a Samoan Drop on Cargill, sending her onto the steel steps at ringside. The impact caused a cut near Cargill’s eyebrow, forcing medical staff to intervene immediately.
The bout was a Triple Threat for the WWE Women’s Championship. Despite the injury, the contest continued. Tiffany Stratton retained her title by pinning Nia Jax after landing the Prettiest Moonsault Ever. Earlier in the match, Cargill nearly scored a victory when she hit her Jaded finisher on Stratton, only for Jax to pull the referee from the ring and stop the count. The contest also featured special ring introductions by Mark Nash.
After the broadcast ended, fan photos showed Cargill leaving under her own power, a sign the injury may not have been as serious as first feared. Following the final bell, Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer entered the ring to confront Stratton. The two champions faced off, each raising their titles as the show closed.
This development comes shortly after another high-profile incident. Jey Uso was recently busted open at Wrestlepalooza, suffering a cut to his forehead during his match.
