Major Backstage Update on WWE SmackDown’s Confusing Finish

A new report has revealed that the main event of WWE SmackDown on September 26 was changed mid-match after Jade Cargill suffered a legitimate injury during the WWE Women’s Championship triple threat bout.

According to TC WrestleVotes, producer Tyson Kidd called an audible once Cargill was busted open. The contest featured champion Tiffany Stratton defending against Cargill and Nia Jax at the Kia Center in Orlando. Stratton was always booked to retain, but the sequence of her win was altered because of the injury.

The incident happened during a ringside exchange with Jax. Cargill attempted a lift, but Jax countered and threw her onto the steel steps. The impact caused a cut above Cargill’s eyebrow that required medical attention. With only three minutes left in the broadcast, communication between the performers reportedly became difficult as the finish was restructured.

Despite the chaos, Stratton kept her championship by pinning Jax after landing the Prettiest Moonsault Ever. Her celebration was cut short when Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer appeared.

The show ended with a staredown between the two titleholders.
