Veteran wrestling booker Dutch Mantell has suggested that WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H’s job may not be secure. The comments came on Mantell’s Story Time show in response to a recent interview where Cody Rhodes publicly stated his desire to take over the top creative role in the company.
During an appearance on ESPN’s Unsportsmanlike, Rhodes claimed a “fight” for the position was beginning, naming himself, CM Punk, and Seth Rollins as contenders. Mantell interpreted this public declaration as a sign of potential issues within WWE’s management structure.
On his show, Mantell speculated that the comments from Rhodes could point to internal discord that has not yet become public knowledge. “If all three are vying for it, that’s telling me something there because they have some, I think, internal, I’m gonna use the word strife, I’ve never used that word before, but some internal disagreements that hasn’t made its way out yet,” Mantell said. “So if he’s throwing his name out at this point, I think Triple H, he may be in a little more trouble than what they’re letting on.”
Triple H has been the head of main roster creative since July 2022, when he replaced Vince McMahon. Before taking on this role, he served as NXT’s head booker for a decade, with Shawn Michaels now having the final say on the brand’s storylines.
The questions surrounding Triple H’s long-term hold on creative come as his booking has also drawn criticism from other industry figures. Veteran writer Vince Russo recently blasted the company’s decision-making regarding the WWE Women’s United States Championship. Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s BroDown, Russo argued that taking the title off Chelsea Green was a mistake made to satisfy the “internet wrestling community.” He stated, “Chelsea Green is the only bright fr–king light on this show. And you took the belt off of Chelsea to put it on [Giulia].”
Green was the inaugural Women’s U.S. Champion after the title’s introduction in late 2024. Her reign concluded on the episode of SmackDown that followed WrestleMania. The championship is currently held by Giulia, who defeated Zelina Vega for the belt at a SmackDown event in Saudi Arabia on June 27, 2025. Giulia’s last televised appearance was on the September 26 edition of SmackDown.
