A new update has been provided on the identity of a mystery attacker at WWE NXT No Mercy. WWE inadvertently revealed the individual’s identity after the event, despite efforts to keep the attacker secret during the live broadcast. The revelation occurred on the company’s official website within a results report.
During the NXT Women’s Championship match between Jacy Jayne and Lola Vice, a hooded figure intervened. Vice had executed a Spinning Backfist, which caused her to fall out of the ring. The mysterious person then appeared and delivered a running knee strike to Vice at ringside.
This interference allowed Jayne to capitalize. Vice was rolled back into the ring, where Jayne quickly delivered a Rolling Encore for the pinfall victory. Jayne thus retained the NXT Women’s Championship. WWE’s website later confirmed Lainey Reed as the individual who interfered in the match.
Reed had been removed from the show earlier in the night. The official results section on WWE.com listed Reed as the hooded figure. “Jacy Jayne retained the NXT Women’s Championship thanks to a shocking assist from Lainey Reid,” the website stated.
The masked figure’s attack on Saturday, September 27, 2025, during the NXT Women’s Championship match marked Jayne’s 122nd day as champion. The assailant, dressed in all black with a hood and mask, vaulted over the barricade before attacking Vice. Earlier, Fallon Henley attempted to interfere on Jayne’s behalf but was ejected from the arena. Henley later rejoined Jayne to celebrate the title retention, without acknowledging the masked figure’s involvement.
