AJ Lee’s WWE Plans Possibly Revealed

A notable prediction has been made regarding the next major angle for AJ Lee, who recently returned to WWE on a full-time contract. Wrestling analyst Sam Roberts has forecasted that Lee will enter a program with Becky Lynch centered around the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Speaking on a recent episode of his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Roberts outlined the logic for the championship feud, highlighting Lee’s credibility as a performer.

“It’s just a natural thing now to go to Becky Lynch and AJ Lee with the thought that AJ Lee could win the Intercontinental Championship. She’s as credible as it gets, but because she’s so credible that she doesn’t have to. That if Becky Lynch is able to get one of her slick pins on AJ Lee that it’ll be fine for AJ Lee.”

“It’ll just extend that rivalry further and I think it’ll be a long time. I think you’ve got quite a bit of legs on this thing. I think it’ll be a while before you hear anybody complaining about Becky Lynch versus AJ Lee matches. So, that was exactly what it should be.” (h/t TJR Wrestling)

The prediction follows Lee’s official in-ring return on September 20 at WWE Wrestlepalooza, where she and her husband, CM Punk, defeated the heel duo of Lynch and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. It was later confirmed that Lee has signed a multi-year, full-time contract, solidifying her place on the active roster as WWE builds toward its next event in Crown Jewel.

This potential title program has been foreshadowed since Lee’s initial appearance on the September 5 episode of SmackDown in Chicago, where she attacked Lynch. Following the broadcast, in an off-air segment, Lee held up the Intercontinental Championship, directly signaling her intentions. However, in an analysis of the Wrestlepalooza match from September 27, Dave Meltzer stated that Lynch “helped carry” Lee through the contest, raising questions about how Lee’s style fits in the current landscape of the women’s division.
