LA Knight secured a major victory on the September 29 episode of Monday Night RAW, defeating former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston to end a singles losing streak that dated back to July. The win marks a significant turnaround for The Megastar, whose last one-on-one victory came against Seth Rollins at a Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The match was heavily influenced by Xavier Woods at ringside, who repeatedly interfered on behalf of his New Day partner. Knight had to overcome several distractions and cheap shots throughout the contest before finally neutralizing Woods with a clothesline in the closing moments of the bout.
With the outside interference handled, Knight ducked a Trouble in Paradise attempt from Kingston and connected with the BFT for the decisive three-count.
The victory was hard-fought, as Kingston initially controlled the pace with his speed, at one point running Knight into the ring post. Early in the match, Knight had also taken the fight to the floor, slamming Kingston’s head on the barricade. The pinfall was met with a massive crowd reaction as Knight celebrated his return to the win column in singles competition.
