The battle lines for the upcoming NXT vs. TNA Showdown special have been officially drawn, with the full card and elimination match rosters finalized during the September 30th broadcast of NXT. The cross-promotional event, scheduled to air on The CW on October 7, will feature two four-on-four elimination matches and two major championship contests.
In the men’s division, Team NXT will be captained by Ricky Saints, who will be joined by Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans, and Myles Borne, who secured his position after a victory over Josh Briggs. They are set to face Team TNA, led by captain Mike Santana and his handpicked partners Frankie Kazarian, Moose, and Leon Slater.
The women’s elimination match will see Team NXT, captained by Jacy Jayne, feature a lineup that includes Jaida Parker, Sol Ruca, and Lola Vice, who earned her spot by defeating Fallon Henley. Their opponents from TNA will be led by reigning Knockouts World Champion Kelani Jordan. Her team consists of Mara Sadè and The IInspiration, Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay. During the segment, Jordan spoiled the result of the upcoming October 2nd episode of TNA iMPACT by referring to Lee and McKay as the new Knockouts World Tag Team Champions.
Two high-stakes title matches will also take place at the Showdown. NXT Tag Team Champions DarkState (Dion Lennox & Osiris Griffin) will face TNA World Tag Team Champions The Hardys (Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy) in a Winner Take All match with both sets of titles on the line. Additionally, Ethan Page is scheduled to defend his NXT North American Championship against Mustafa Ali.
The September 30th episode of NXT concluded with a massive brawl between the rival TNA and NXT talents, as NXT executive Shawn Michaels watched from the entranceway, overseeing the escalating conflict between the two brands.
