Triple H has faced a wave of criticism from WWE fans in recent weeks. “Hunter” has become a target of dissatisfaction both over creative decisions and his frequent on-screen appearances, which many consider unnecessary, as well as his presence in the series WWE: Unreal and now as one of the cover stars of the new WWE 2K26.

Focusing on the second season of WWE: Unreal on Netflix, one episode shows a moment in which Triple H is seen reprimanding LA Knight backstage after an alleged mistake by the wrestler during Money in the Bank 2025.

Fans — especially those who are part of Knight’s large support base — criticized Triple H, fearing that the former WWE United States Champion’s career could be negatively affected because of this.

However, not everyone is against Triple H. In a recent statement on his podcast, Dutch Mantell came to the defense of WWE’s chief creative officer.

“I honestly don’t know what he was thinking, because he just laid there at the base of the ladder, and I think the fans were asking, ‘Where is he?’ And it’s not something that’s going to stay on your mind for very long. But it was what we call in the business a flat finish. He messed it up. LA Knight messed up his own finish.

I don’t think Triple H is the type who yells. I don’t think he’s the type who screams. And I don’t think he said, ‘You son of a b****, what the hell were you thinking?’ That’s not his style. What you saw was his style. He’s very kind, very professional, but he was disappointed with the outcome.”

Despite fans’ concerns about Knight’s future, the expectation — as previously reported by multiple sources — is that the wrestler will have a big 2026, possibly enjoying the best run of his career in WWE.
