Adam Copeland Defends Bloody Street Fight vs. Jon Moxley
Adam Copeland responds to backlash over his brutal AEW World Championship street fight with Jon Moxley, defending hardcore wrestling as part of a variety show.

Adam Copeland isn’t backing down from critics of his bloody street fight with Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite. The veteran wrestler recently addressed fan complaints about the match’s hardcore nature in a candid TVInsider interview.
Copeland compared wrestling to a variety show, explaining why different styles matter.
I look at wrestling as a variety show. That means you bring a lot of different things to the table with that. There can be some comedy, straight-up wrestling, hardcore matches. That has always been the case.
He pointed to his history with Mick Foley as precedent for pushing boundaries.
Think about me and Foley. I’m sure there are a lot of people that were disturbed by that too. There are also a lot of people who enjoy horror movies.
The former WWE star embraced AEW’s edgier approach to the business.
AEW is not afraid to take some risks. For a lack of a better analogy, we’re kind of a bit punk rock. It’s not always going to be pretty.
Copeland also revealed his AEW dream match wishlist before retirement.
I know I want to work the Swerve Strickland’s, Hangman Page’s, Jay White’s, Kyle Fletcher’s, Will Ospreay’s, Kenny Omega’s, and the Samoa Joe’s.
Wrestling needs variety to thrive – would fans really prefer every match to look exactly the same? Copeland’s commitment to diversity in wrestling styles might just be what keeps the industry fresh and unpredictable.
