A match for the AEW World Championship between champion Hangman Adam Page and Samoa Joe is now official for WrestleDream. The confrontation that led to the booking occurred during the AEW Dynamite 6th Anniversary Show on October 1, 2025, following a temporary and successful alliance between the two men.
The evening saw Page team with Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs to face the Death Riders in a six-man tag team match. Page secured the victory for his team after executing a Deadeye and a Buckshot Lariat on Claudio Castagnoli. This partnership was a continuation of recent events, as Joe and Hobbs had aided Page in his efforts against the Death Riders last week.
Immediately following the win, the collaboration dissolved. While Page was handing a championship belt to his partners, Joe dropped the title to the floor. Powerhouse Hobbs attempted to de-escalate the situation, but Joe confronted and struck Page, leading to a shouting match that required security personnel to separate them. As he was being pulled away, Joe yelled that Page “didn’t beat him” for the world title.
In a backstage segment, Hangman Page addressed the incident by officially challenging Samoa Joe to a title match at WrestleDream. Page stated that he holds a great deal of respect for Joe and felt he owed him the opportunity for his assistance during their mutual feud with the Death Riders, which had been ongoing for several months prior to Page winning the championship at All In.
Samoa Joe accepted the challenge in a separate interview moments later. He declared his intention was to remind everyone of who he has always been and affirmed that he would not tolerate any disrespect. This upcoming bout will be the first-ever singles match between the two competitors. Joe, who is no longer operating as a heel, is a former AEW World Champion himself.
