AEW has canceled the scheduled TNT Championship match for the upcoming Dynamite 6th Anniversary Show. Challenger Hologram was pulled due to injury, forcing the title bout against champion Kyle Fletcher to be scrapped. The announcement was made during the broadcast of Collision. On-screen, the kayfabe explanation tied the injury to an attack by The Protostar.
The contest had been promoted with high stakes. Fletcher’s TNT Championship was set to be on the line against Hologram’s undefeated streak, which had reached 34 consecutive victories.
The angle played out in the opening segment of Collision. Hologram was attacked by The Protostar in a storyline beat. Later in the show, commentator Tony Schiavone confirmed the cancellation, saying Hologram was seriously hurt.
It remains unclear if the injury is legitimate or strictly part of an ongoing storyline. With Hologram sidelined, Fletcher is left without a challenger for the anniversary edition of Dynamite.
Hologram’s last in-ring appearance came days earlier on Dynamite, competing in a trios match where The Conglomeration faced the Don Callis Family. Fletcher, meanwhile, recently defended his TNT Championship successfully against Komander.
