AEW changes direction for Dynasty PPV after Brian Cage’s injury derails planned Hurt Syndicate vs. Murder Machines tag team championship match.

AEW Forced to Scrap Major Dynasty Plans Due to Injury

AEW Dynasty is set for April 6, 2025, with several matches already confirmed, but behind-the-scenes changes have altered one unannounced bout on the Philadelphia card.

Dave Meltzer revealed in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that while Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin vs. Big Bill and Bryan Keith hasn’t been officially announced, it’s currently scheduled for the pay-per-view.

This wasn’t the original plan, according to Meltzer, who reported that the AEW World Tag Team Championship was supposed to be defended by The Hurt Syndicate (Lashley and Benjamin) against Murder Machines (Brian Cage and Lance Archer).

Plans changed after Cage suffered an injury during his match against Chris Masters at OWA Pro Wrestling on March 20. At the time of the injury, neither the original championship match nor the current replacement bout had been officially announced for Dynasty.

The PPV will feature Jon Moxley defending the AEW World Championship against Swerve Strickland, while Toni Storm puts her AEW Women’s World Championship on the line against Megan Bayne.

In another high-profile match, Kenny Omega defends his AEW International Championship in a Triple Threat against Ricochet and newly-signed Mike Bailey.

The card also includes an AEW World Trios Championship match with the Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta) defending against Rated FTR (Cash Wheeler, Dax Harwood, and Cope).

Chris Jericho will also feature at Dynasty, defending the ROH World Championship in a high-stakes Title vs. Mask match against Bandido.
