AEW Pay-Per-Views on HBO Max Expected to Be Announced in Coming Weeks

An announcement detailing the arrival of AEW’s live pay-per-view events on HBO Max is expected “in the coming weeks,” according to Andrew Zarian of The Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast. The report arrives nearly a year after AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery first revealed plans to bring the PPVs to the streaming service with a discounted pricing model, a topic that has seen few updates since.

For years, moving the major events to HBO Max has been viewed as a logical step, as Warner Bros. Discovery owns AEW’s broadcast partners, TBS and TNT. The promotion’s weekly shows, Dynamite and Collision, already air on those networks with a simulcast available on the streaming platform.

Currently, fans in the United States access the pay-per-views through traditional cable and satellite providers or digital platforms like Amazon Prime.

Speculation regarding the timing of the official launch has been fueled by a recent change to HBO Max’s terms and conditions. The platform sent an update to subscribers that included a new section mentioning “one-time purchases,” with the policy set to begin on September 20.

That date is significant, as it coincides with AEW’s next major pay-per-view, All Out. The addition of a one-time purchase option has led to fan discussion about potential pricing structures, ranging from a new, higher-priced HBO Max subscription tier that includes the events to a discounted pay-per-view price point, possibly between $20-$30, for purchases made directly through the service.
