Marina Shafir, usually the unflinching enforcer of the Death Riders, broke character in a rare moment on AEW Dynamite: September to Remember during a ringside confrontation with her husband, Roderick Strong.
For the past year, Shafir has served as Jon Moxley’s muscle, ensuring the faction’s dominance through intimidation. That loyalty was tested as she accompanied Moxley in his match against Strong, whom she married in 2018.
The turning point came when the fight spilled to the outside. As Moxley regrouped on the floor, Strong followed—only to be met by Shafir. The two locked eyes, and for a split second, her usual stoicism cracked into a smile.
That brief exchange proved costly. The pause allowed Moxley to recover and blindside Strong, swinging the momentum in his favor. The distraction paved the way for the Death Riders’ leader to secure the win.
The victory extends the group’s dominant stretch since evolving out of the Blackpool Combat Club. For Moxley, the momentum is crucial heading into his Coffin match against Darby Allin this weekend at All Out.
