The “forbidden door” may be closed, but AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Moné still has her eyes on one last match with a familiar rival. During a recent social media Q&A, Moné revealed that facing Bayley again is high on her professional bucket list.

When asked about the possibility, Moné didn’t hesitate. “It’s my dream to have one more with her before I retire but if it doesn’t happen I’m so happy with the matches we did have,” she said, while acknowledging the challenges of working for different promotions.

Their history speaks for itself. The two delivered a career-defining clash at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn in 2015, a match often credited with sparking WWE’s women’s evolution. From their rivalry in NXT to becoming the first WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, their careers have been closely intertwined. Their last singles encounter, however, dates back nearly five years.

While Moné’s comments keep the possibility alive, Bayley is charting her own uncertain path on WWE television. She returned to Raw this week to rescue Lyra Valkyria from a two-on-one attack, but the moment quickly shifted when Bayley began hugging commentators and ringside staff. The unusual behavior echoed her old NXT persona and hinted at a star wrestling with an identity crisis.

For now, Moné’s dream match remains out of reach. Her immediate focus is on defending the AEW TBS Championship against Riho this Saturday at All Out.
