A recent report has provided an update on the status of All Elite Wrestling’s Buddy Matthews, indicating that his return to in-ring action is not expected soon. The Hounds of Hell member has been out of action since the Grand Slam Australia event, where he sustained a significant ankle injury.
The injury occurred during Matthews’ entrance for his Continental Championship match against Kazuchika Okada in his hometown. Despite being injured, he proceeded to finish the bout, which he ultimately lost.
Matthews underwent surgery for the injury last month. This followed a statement he made in June, in which he affirmed that his ankle was not healing as hoped and cited a lack of mobility as a persistent issue.
The injury, which occurred in February 2025, was specified as a partial ligament tear with cartilage damage. Before being sidelined, Matthews was a key member of the stable now known as The Hounds of Hell, which was rebranded from the House of Black after Malakai Black’s removal from the group in early 2025.
