NXT superstar Je’Von Evans will challenge Leon Slater for the TNA X-Division Championship at Bound For Glory, marking a major cross-promotional moment. The announcement came from Santino Marella on Friday during the TNA Victory Road broadcast.
The reveal capped a busy night for Evans. Earlier, on the September 26 episode of WWE SmackDown in Orlando, he answered Sami Zayn’s open challenge for the United States Championship. Evans delivered a strong performance, hitting his OG Cutter for a near fall, but Zayn secured the victory.
At Victory Road, Leon Slater defended the X-Division title against Myron Reed in the main event. After the contest, Marella appeared on stage to confirm that Evans would be the next challenger at Bound For Glory.
A pre-recorded promo featuring Evans aired shortly after. “It’s about to get real bouncy,” he declared, setting the tone for his upcoming clash with Slater.
This announcement adds to a packed schedule for Evans. One night after SmackDown, he is also set to face Josh Briggs at NXT No Mercy on September 27.
