Two WWE championships will be defended on tonight’s September 26 edition of SmackDown from the Kia Center, headlined by a high-stakes Triple Threat for the WWE Women’s Title. Tiffany Stratton is set to put her championship on the line against Jade Cargill and Nia Jax, while Sami Zayn continues his run of United States Championship open challenges.
Stratton, currently the longest-reigning champion on the main roster, enters the match with major implications for Crown Jewel: Perth. The winner will advance to the October 11 premium live event to challenge Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer.
The Triple Threat was set up on the September 12 episode of SmackDown. A singles contest between Stratton and Cargill ended in a double countout following a ringside brawl. After the match, Nia Jax attacked both women, prompting WWE to book the three-way clash. Reports indicate the bout was initially slated for Wrestlepalooza before being shifted to tonight’s broadcast in Orlando.
Meanwhile, Zayn will defend the United States Championship for the fourth week in a row. His recent defenses include a No Contest against John Cena on September 5 after interference from Brock Lesnar, followed by successful victories over Rey Fenix and Carmelo Hayes.
Also confirmed for tonight’s show is an appearance from Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes to further build his upcoming Crown Jewel showdown with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. In addition, a women’s tag team match will see Michin and B-Fab team up against Giulia and Kiana James.
