The WrestlePalooza card has a new championship match. Following the September 1 episode of RAW, WWE confirmed that Stephanie Vaquer and Iyo Sky will compete for the vacant Women’s World Championship at the upcoming premium live event.
This may not be the only high-stakes women’s bout on the show. On the Busted Open podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry stated he expects another women’s match to be added to the lineup before the event.
“Something has gotta come up to where there’s more than one [women’s] match-up,” Henry said. “When I say that, I don’t think it’ll be a rematch of Jade Cargill and Tiffany Stratton. I think there might be some Jade Cargill involved. There might be some Nia Jax involved. I mean, hell, they might be able to make it an eight to 10-woman Battle Royal for all I know. Where is Charlotte [Flair] gonna come into play? Where is Bayley?”
Henry’s mention of Charlotte Flair aligns with the potential for a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship defense at WrestlePalooza. Flair and her partner, Alexa Bliss, are the current champions, but any upcoming match depends on Flair’s recovery from an attack she suffered before the August 29 episode of SmackDown.
The Women’s World Championship was recently vacated by Naomi, who announced her pregnancy on the August 18 edition of RAW. Vaquer was originally scheduled to face Naomi at WWE Clash in Paris before that match was canceled.
The WrestlePalooza card also features John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar, a match that was finalized on the September 5 SmackDown. Additionally, The Usos are set to reunite against the team of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.
