Becky Lynch is headed into WWE SummerSlam for a high-stakes title defense, but a major change in her presentation may be the biggest story. According to a report from Fightful Select, Lynch is set to debut a brand-new entrance theme in a collaboration with the band The Wonder Years.
The new music could be unveiled as soon as this Sunday during her match at SummerSlam. This marks a significant shift for the reigning Women’s Intercontinental Champion, as the new track is her first WWE theme to feature full lyrics. Lynch herself teased the collaboration on social media, building anticipation for a new chapter in her character’s evolution on one of WWE’s grandest stages.

The Championship Rivalry
This potential change comes as Lynch prepares to defend her Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Lyra Valkyria. Their feud, which began after Lynch won the title from Valkyria, will culminate at MetLife Stadium in a match with heavy stipulations. The bout will be contested under No Disqualification and No Countout rules. Furthermore, if Valkyria loses, she will be barred from challenging for the championship as long as Lynch is the titleholder.
The rivalry intensified on the most recent episode of WWE RAW, where an attempted attack by Lynch with a kendo stick backfired, with Valkyria turning the weapon on the champion. This escalation adds a personal and violent edge to their upcoming encounter.
A Change in Plans
The path to SummerSlam wasn’t always focused on Valkyria. Internal plans originally slated Bayley as Lynch’s challenger for the event. However, WWE creative pivoted, giving the spot to Valkyria following her victory over Bayley in a two-out-of-three falls match on WWE RAW. This decision underscores the company’s commitment to the Lynch-Valkyria storyline and potentially leaves Bayley, one of the company’s most accomplished stars, off the SummerSlam card after she also missed WrestleMania 41.
Lynch’s return to the SummerSlam stage is her first in three years. The event has been the site of several pivotal moments in her career, including her main roster pay-per-view debut in 2015 and her surprise return from maternity leave in 2021.
