Kenny Omega challenged Konosuke Takeshita for the AEW International Championship at Revolution 2025 following their tag team match at Grand Slam Australia on February 16. During the event, Omega and Will Ospreay defeated Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher when Omega pinned Takeshita after executing a One Winged Angel combined with Ospreay’s Hidden Blade.
Following the victory, Omega addressed his history with Takeshita, referencing his defeats at All In 2023 and All Out 2023. At All In, Takeshita teamed with Jay White and Juice Robinson to defeat Omega, Hangman Page, and Kota Ibushi. One week later at All Out, Takeshita secured a singles victory over Omega.
Omega stated he remained frustrated about listening to Takeshita and Don Callis gloating about these victories for over a year. He laid out the challenge for Revolution on March 9, prompting Takeshita to prove he can defeat him for a third time.
This marks Omega’s first championship opportunity since Full Gear 2023, where he and Chris Jericho unsuccessfully challenged for the Young Bucks’ AEW Tag Team Championship.
