Braun Strowman’s High Salary Contributed to WWE Release Decision

Reports indicate financial considerations factored into former Universal Champion's departure amid roster cuts.

Braun Strowman’s High Salary Contributed to WWE Release Decision

Braun Strowman’s WWE release stemmed partially from salary concerns according to Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer. The former Universal Champion’s compensation reportedly exceeded his current creative utilization, making him a cost-cutting target during Friday’s roster reductions.

“One person told me they felt he was paid more than how they were using him,” Meltzer stated, noting Strowman’s 2022 re-signing came during a different financial climate under previous management. The 6’8″ star had maintained television presence since returning, but not in the main event capacity of his initial WWE run (2015-2021).

Strowman’s departure contrasts with Shotzi’s exit, which resulted from an unrenewed contract rather than direct release. These moves reflect WWE’s strategic payroll adjustments under TKO Group ownership, prioritizing budget alignment with talent positioning.

The Monster Among Men now joins a growing pool of veteran free agents as WWE streamlines its roster post-WrestleMania 41.
