New comments have been made by Bret Hart regarding the legacy of the late Hulk Hogan. During a live Q&A session in Germersheim, Germany, the WWE Hall of Famer accused Hogan of refusing to help other wrestlers, alleging he would have preferred to see the company fail rather than assist in making a new top star.
Hart articulated a direct accusation against Hogan, stating he never worked to elevate talent that came after him.
“When I look back on my career and I look back on wrestling, the industry, and I look back on what Roddy and Mr. Perfect did for me, I can tell you that Hulk Hogan never did that for anybody,” Hart said. “He never helped anybody else after his time was being the top guy. He would rather see the company sink than actually come back and help make the next star, which in wrestling—that’s kind of how it always works. The next guy builds the next guy after. It’s like everybody helps each other kind of thing.”
The criticism of Hogan was framed in contrast to other legends who Hart credited for being instrumental in his own ascent in the wrestling world. He specifically named Mr. Perfect and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper as key figures who helped prove his main event value to the office.
“Everything for me started with the wrestlers that loved working with me like Mr. Perfect and Roddy Piper, and certain guys wanted to help me and prove to the office and the promotion that I could be a big star,” Hart explained. “And so I owe a lot to Mr. Perfect. He was the first guy to really go in there and just show everybody how good I was. Curt was one of my favorite guys to ever wrestle. Roddy Piper was probably the second.”
This is not the first time Hart has publicly taken issue with Hogan’s professional conduct.
Hart’s remarks were made just over two months after Hogan’s passing. The wrestling icon died of an acute myocardial infarction on July 24, 2025, prompting widespread tributes from across the industry, including official statements from WWE and personal condolences from figures such as John Cena and Ric Flair.
