Britt Baker Reportedly Seeks Release From AEW Contract

Recent reports indicate that former AEW Women’s World Champion Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. is actively seeking a release from her contract with All Elite Wrestling. The speculation, which has been rumored for some time, was intensified by a series of cryptic posts Baker shared on her social media this week.

The situation is complicated by her contractual status. Baker signed a five-year extension in late 2021, which would keep her with the company until at least 2026. AEW also holds the option to add time to the deal to account for past injuries, potentially extending it further. According to sources, the promotion is not currently inclined to grant an early release. The internal belief is that AEW wants to prevent a high-profile debut for WWE, particularly with WWE’s Evolution event on the horizon or before any potential shows are announced in her hometown of Pittsburgh.

Multiple factors have reportedly fueled Baker’s desire to leave. Sources claim she feels the company’s atmosphere has “changed around her” and that she has burned bridges backstage. Her recent history has been described as turbulent since returning from a serious illness in June 2024. A backstage altercation with MJF in July 2024 reportedly led to an HR investigation and her suspension. Her last television appearance in November 2024 included an awkward on-screen moment with Serena Deeb, where Baker was seen mouthing “nobody cares,” which allegedly drew backstage heat.

Adding to the rumors, Baker took to her Instagram story on Tuesday to share a pointed quote.

“A bottle of water can be $1 at a supermarket, $3 at the gym, $5 at the movies, $6 on a plane… Same water. The only thing that changed its value was the place. So next time you feel your worth is nothing, maybe you’re at the wrong place.”

She followed this with another post, highlighting a specific portion of a quote that read, “Letting it stop you is a choice.” While she did not mention AEW by name, the timing of the posts has been widely interpreted as a reflection of her current situation with the company.
