WWE analyst Sam Roberts has pitched a compelling scenario for John Cena's retirement match, naming a dominant former champion as the ideal final opponent.

Bron Breakker Could Have the Biggest Match of His WWE Career Before Year’s End

As John Cena’s final run in WWE approaches its expected conclusion in December 2025, speculation about his last opponent is intensifying. According to WWE analyst Sam Roberts, the ideal candidate to face the 17-time World Champion in his farewell match is former two-time Intercontinental Champion, Bron Breakker.

Appearing on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Roberts presented a detailed scenario that would not only provide a fitting end to Cena’s career but also significantly elevate Breakker. The core of his reasoning centers on Breakker’s status as a heel, which allows for a specific type of storytelling.

“I would want it to be Bron Breakker. because he’s a heel. It’s like, you’re not going to give an up-and-coming baby face a victory over a heel John Cena, because the whole point is that nobody’s going to beat him.”

The analyst outlined a precise finish for the proposed match, one designed to give Breakker a career-defining victory without diminishing Cena’s legacy. The idea involves Cena returning to his classic babyface persona for one last time, only to be caught by a surprise maneuver.

“Bron Breakker just gets him with a small package. 123, John Cena made one mistake. Bron Breakker wins. Bron Breakker gets to celebrate. And then, because John Cena didn’t get killed, we can then still have a moment for the heels to leave and the babyfaces can come out and congratulate John.”

Breakker’s resume makes him a credible choice for such a historic match. After a dominant run as NXT Champion, he transitioned to the main roster and has been a consistent force. His record includes two reigns as Intercontinental Champion, a title he lost at WrestleMania 41 to Dominik Mysterio.

More recently, Breakker has operated as a formidable heel, forming a powerful alliance with Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman. This has seen him involved in high-profile conflicts against top stars like CM Punk and Sami Zayn, cementing his position as one of the company’s most prominent rising talents.
