Cain Velasquez Gets Prison Sentence After Shooting Incident
Former UFC champ Cain Velasquez sentenced to five years for 2022 shooting but will likely serve just one year due to time already served.

Cain Velasquez will be spending more time behind bars following Monday’s sentencing for his role in a 2022 shooting incident.
The judge handed down a five-year prison sentence to the former UFC Heavyweight Champion for attempted murder and weapons charges.
Velasquez won’t serve the full term, though, as he’s already got over three and a half years of credit between jail time and ankle monitor wear.
The shooting happened in February 2022 when Velasquez fired at a vehicle containing a man accused of molesting his son.
Paul Bender, the accused molester’s stepfather, was injured during the incident that led to multiple felony charges.
Velasquez appeared in a Santa Clara courtroom Monday where his legal team pushed for time served while prosecutors sought 25 years to life.
According to NBC’s Ian Cull, the victims expressed extreme disappointment with the judge’s decision, feeling it considered “unfounded allegations.”
Reportedly, Velasquez’s legal team believes he’ll likely serve approximately one more year when factoring time already served.
