During a recent appearance on Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Outlaws, Vince Russo discussed Carmella’s previous WWE character developments. The former writer shared his perspective on her masked gimmick, suggesting it may have stemmed from backstage tensions.
Russo expanded on his theory about the origins of Carmella’s masked character:
They just put a lot of bad gimmicks with her. She was with Reggie for a while, and bro, remember they had her wearing the mask… I’m telling you that rib came from her. One day she was probably in the makeup chair a few minutes longer than somebody wanted her to be and they thought, let’s put a mask on her for six months, so I mean they’ve really saddled her with some bad creative.
Return timeline remains uncertain amid roster changes
The timeline for Carmella’s return remains unclear as WWE approaches the Royal Rumble season. The women’s division anticipates the returns of several prominent performers, including Alexa Bliss, Charlotte, Asuka, and Becky Lynch.
