Chelsea Green Criticizes WWE’s Women’s Division Booking

A notable statement has been made by Chelsea Green regarding the status of WWE’s newest women’s championships. The inaugural Women’s United States Champion, speaking with CinemaBlend, called for both the U.S. and Intercontinental titles to be featured more consistently on weekly WWE programming to better showcase the company’s talent.

Green elaborated on her position, stating that while the titles are a positive addition, the company is not yet maximizing their potential. “Do I think that we’re doing all we can with them? No. I would love to see more being done with them,” Green said. “I want Giulia to be wrestling on TV every single week with that title. I wanted Zelina on TV every single week. I want Michin to win the title and be on TV every single week. There’s so many hours of WWE, and we can find a place for those championships if we try. It’s tough.”

Her perspective comes from experience, as Green made history as the first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion. She secured the title on the December 14, 2024, edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event after defeating Michin in a tournament final.

Despite her critique for more screen time, Green affirmed the value of the new championships in providing more roles for the roster. “I definitely am so happy that we introduced those titles, because I felt like for a long time we were missing opportunities for a bunch of the girls,” Green stated. “We just have such a stacked roster between Raw SmackDown, NXT. I mean, now we’ve got ID, we’ve got Evolve, we’ve got LFG. We have so many different brands, and we just didn’t have enough titles to really represent all the girls and the variety of women.”

The creation of the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship followed one month after the U.S. title’s debut. Lyra Valkyria became its inaugural holder by defeating Dakota Kai.

The titles Green discussed are currently held by Giulia, the reigning Women’s United States Champion on SmackDown, and Becky Lynch, who holds the Women’s Intercontinental Championship on Raw.
