The inaugural WWE Women’s United States Champion has declined an opportunity to face a current Raw performer in a rematch of their celebrated previous encounter.
Chelsea Green revealed during an interview on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet that Penta approached her about recreating their 2018 Lucha Underground match after joining WWE. Green, who competed as Reklusa during the fourth season of Lucha Underground, opted against reviving the bout despite its popularity among wrestling fans.
I did not realize that that would [gain traction]. I mean, it got some traction when it first aired, but not the way it has now. Oh my goodness, it’s crazy to see how much steam it has picked up in the past couple of years. And then obviously, when he signed with WWE, we ran into each other in the hall in Toronto, and he was like, ‘You and me, rematch?’ I’m like, I don’t think so, pal. I think we’re good. We did our one match, and everyone loves it, let’s not.
The match has developed a strong following over the years, becoming recognized as one of the standout segments from the program alongside Penta’s bout with IYO SKY. While Green has chosen not to revisit this contest, Penta continues his WWE run and is preparing for his first WrestleMania appearance.
