CM Punk interrupts Kevin Owens on SmackDown, declaring his intention to win Royal Rumble and challenge for WWE Championship at WrestleMania.

CM Punk Announces WrestleMania Plans During SmackDown

During SmackDown’s January 31 broadcast from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Joe Tessitore conducted an interview with Kevin Owens. The segment opened the show, with Tessitore questioning Owens about his ongoing situation with Cody Rhodes.

Owens dismissed Tessitore as a Cody Rhodes supporter, telling him to “shove it up your ass” before grabbing the Winged Eagle Championship from its display. CM Punk interrupted the segment, drawing enthusiastic chants from the Indianapolis crowd.

I’m sorry if you thought I was going to look past you onto WrestleMania. After I win the Royal Rumble, and if you beat Cody Rhodes, then the main event of WrestleMania could be Kevin Owens vs CM Punk.

Owens expressed approval at the prospect of defeating Punk at WrestleMania, though the crowd voiced their disagreement. He then referenced his two previous WrestleMania main events, taunting Punk’s lack of similar accomplishments.

I hope you don’t win the rumble, because I want you to hate the fact that you never main evented a WrestleMania event, something that I have done twice.

Punk countered by highlighting Owens’ Royal Rumble match losses and his defeat to Logan Paul. The exchange concluded with Owens departing to audience disapproval after Punk requested he stay.
