CM Punk has confirmed he is present for tonight’s episode of WWE Raw in Paris. In a series of videos posted to his Instagram story, Punk showed himself backstage at the arena signing merchandise, indicating he will be on the show despite not being officially announced by WWE.
His appearance comes less than 24 hours after he was cost the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of Clash in Paris. During the final moments of the Fatal Four-Way match, Punk had champion Seth Rollins positioned for the Go to Sleep when a masked individual interfered, hitting Punk with a low blow. This allowed Rollins to recover and execute a Curb Stomp for the victory. The attacker was then revealed to be Rollins’s wife, Becky Lynch.
The loss was the latest turn in Punk’s rivalry with Rollins, which reignited at SummerSlam in August. At that event, Punk won the World Heavyweight Championship, only for Rollins to immediately cash in his Money in the Bank contract and take the title from him just moments later.
With Punk now confirmed to be at Raw, it is expected he will confront both Rollins and Lynch about the events that transpired at Clash in Paris. The interference by Lynch has also fueled speculation about a potential return for Punk’s wife, AJ Lee, who has not competed since 2015. Reports have indicated that Lee’s name has been mentioned in several internal creative pitches, potentially setting the stage for a mixed tag team angle.
The weekend was already an eventful one for Punk. Prior to the show, he posted a message on his Instagram story advising fans not to touch strangers, which was reportedly a response to a tense interaction he had with a fan in Paris.
