Cody Rhodes reached 200 days as Undisputed WWE Champion after defending his title against Kevin Owens at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The match, held at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, ended in controversy when Owens launched a post-match assault.
The championship match concluded after Rhodes delivered a Cross Rhodes on a steel chair for the victory. The finish came after two referees were incapacitated during crucial moments – Charles Robinson was knocked out of the ring, while Eddie Orengo was struck with an inadvertent Cody Cutter.
Owens addressed the controversial ending on social media, criticizing the officiating. “After getting screwed out of becoming the Undisputed WWE Champion by incompetent referees, Kevin Owens justifiably gets retribution on The American Person with an often imitated, never truly duplicated, PACKAGE PILEDRIVER,” he wrote.
The attack led to a confrontation between Owens and Triple H on the entrance ramp. This incident follows a pattern of aggressive behavior from Owens, who previously sidelined Randy Orton with a Piledriver last month on SmackDown.
