Cody Rhodes Comments On Randy Orton’s WWE In-Ring Future

Cody Rhodes, the Undisputed WWE Champion, spoke about Randy Orton’s future during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, admitting it’s uncertain how much longer his longtime ally will stay in the ring.

Rhodes made it clear he hopes for one more big tag team run with his former mentor from their Legacy days. “It’s Randy Orton, somebody who was a mentor to me in the game,” Rhodes said. “And—no spoiler—Randy is… we don’t know how much longer Randy is going to be doing this. I don’t want that to creep up on me if we didn’t get one more good old-fashioned Mega Powers-style tag with the guy who is partially responsible for me ever getting anywhere in WWE.”

The two will reunite this Friday, October 3, on SmackDown, teaming up against Raw’s Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. The cross-brand match was officially announced on September 30 by SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis.

The showdown was set in motion after Breakker and Reed attacked Rhodes on the September 26 episode of SmackDown, leading Orton to step in. The match also builds momentum for Rhodes’s upcoming champion vs. champion clash with World Champion Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel on November 8.
