One of the biggest disagreements that John Cena and I had, and we had this disagreement both backstage and in front of the cameras, is that he feels I’m not authentic enough or as authentic as he was. I think at this point, I’m pretty confident in who I am and feel I have a proven track record. The answer is, you can’t be fake about this. Maybe that’s it, some of them don’t like you. You can’t please everyone, they may not like you.
The disagreement became part of their on-screen rivalry when Cena called out Rhodes for being too rehearsed and perfect during their Raw confrontation. This criticism highlighted a legitimate point of contention that had been brewing between the two veterans behind the scenes.
