Controversial WWE Docuseries ‘Unreal’ Lands Netflix Premiere Date

Netflix has officially announced a July 29, 2025, premiere date for its new docuseries, “WWE: Unreal,” which promises an unprecedented look behind the curtain of the wrestling promotion. The project is part of a larger partnership between WWE and the streaming giant, which will also become the home of WWE RAW.

The series will offer viewers access to the company’s creative process, with cameras taking them directly inside the WWE writer’s room. Each episode, running approximately 50 minutes, is set to explore how major storylines and character arcs are developed. The show will also delve into the personal lives of the talent, showcasing drama and challenges that occur away from the television cameras.

This unprecedented level of access has reportedly been met with mixed reactions backstage. Some company veterans are said to have opposed the show’s creation, fearing it could expose too much of the business. TKO President Mark Shapiro addressed these concerns, acknowledging the risks of giving away the “Coca-Cola recipe” but emphasizing that fans desire this kind of transparency, comparing it to seeing the inner workings of “Saturday Night Live.”

NFL legend Peyton Manning is an executive producer on the project, a move that adds significant mainstream credibility. He joins a production team that includes Jamie Horowitz, Ross Ketover, Keith Cossrow, Ken Rodgers, Jessica Boddy, Lee Fitting, Ben Houser, and Marc Pomarico.

WWE talent Chelsea Green has mentioned her involvement, noting that production partners had to edit her down because she “talks a lot,” hinting at the unscripted nature of the content captured for the series. “WWE: Unreal” arrives as part of the five-billion-dollar deal that solidifies Netflix as a central hub for WWE content.
