Dakota Kai addressed her time away from the ring on a recent Twitch stream, confirming she plans to make a return to wrestling. She noted that while the break has been good for her after a long career, she is ready to get back to it.
“I miss wrestling, you guys,” Kai stated. “We’re gonna get back into it. It’s just one of those things where it’s been nice to have a little bit of a break. I’ve been doing it for a long time. Longer than the last seven years I was with WWE. It is nice to take a step back a bit, but I really do miss it.” (h/t Fightful)
Kai has been absent from in-ring competition since the March 17th episode of WWE RAW. Following that match, she continued to appear in television segments with IYO SKY before WWE released her in May.
The release was reportedly a surprise to many within the company, where Kai was said to have received nearly unanimous praise.
According to a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter in May, Kai’s age, 37, was “part of” the reason for the decision.
