Damian Priest Receives New Nickname in WWE

In the midst of a developing storyline on WWE SmackDown, Damian Priest has acquired a new nickname, “Father Damo,” courtesy of fellow superstar Sheamus. The moniker was revealed on Sheamus’ Instagram account as the two were seen celebrating over the July 4th weekend.

“Don’t often drink, but when i do, i bring a priest.. #fatherdamo 🥃.”

This off-screen development comes as Priest’s on-screen presence intensifies. On the most recent episode of WWE SmackDown, which was pre-recorded, Priest appeared in a backstage segment with Aleister Black. The two discussed Black’s scheduled match against R-Truth, suggesting a new narrative direction for Priest as SummerSlam approaches. Having moved to the blue brand earlier this year following his split from Rhea Ripley, this new angle is seen as a potential push to elevate his status on the card.

Priest has remained active on social media, recently taking a playful jab at Cody Rhodes. During Independence Day celebrations in New York, he posted on X that the fireworks reminded him of “Cody Rhodes’ pyro,” a lighthearted reference to the elaborate entrances of the top WWE star.

Beyond his in-ring activities, Priest’s personal life has also been in the spotlight. He is reportedly in a relationship with NXT talent Lola Vice, who is 16 years his junior. The romance was seemingly confirmed when Vice, 26, posted a photo of herself with the 42-year-old Priest at a New York Yankees game late last month.

These recent events follow Priest securing a new contract with WWE last year, which includes first-class travel accommodations. In a recent interview, he disclosed that he negotiated the perk to help with the physical discomfort of travel and also gained control over his entrance theme.

Despite being “banged up” with injuries sustained during his feud with Drew McIntyre earlier this year, Priest has continued to perform, earning respect from officials. With SummerSlam set for MetLife Stadium, considered a “home game” for the New Jersey native, there are significant expectations for him to have a prominent role at the two-night event.
