Darby Allin has thrown down the gauntlet for a match against Jon Moxley at AEW All Out, only to have the challenge promptly rejected on Moxley’s behalf by his Death Riders stablemate, Wheeler Yuta.
The challenge was issued during a video package on the Wednesday, August 27 episode of AEW Dynamite. In the promo, Allin spoke about defying those who doubted him and wished for his death during his recent climb of Mount Everest before formally calling out Moxley.
The response came later in the broadcast. Following Jon Moxley’s victory over Daniel Garcia in a singles contest, Wheeler Yuta entered the ring and officially declined Allin’s challenge for the former AEW World Champion.
This new development is the latest escalation in a conflict stemming from AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door on August 24. During that event, Allin was on the winning side of a ten-man, lights-out steel cage match against a team that included Moxley. After the bout, Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli launched a brutal assault on Allin’s teammate, Will Ospreay, targeting his injured neck and forcing him out of action for surgery.
Allin’s quest for retribution is already a central theme of tonight’s Dynamite. Earlier in the evening, he competes in his first match on the program in 2025, facing Moxley’s stablemate Claudio Castagnoli in a falls-count-anywhere match.
